Our studio team includes a number of character animators who work alongside some of our best-known clients, such as NatWest, O2, TK Maxx and Lloyds Bank to bring their brand assets, characters and even fonts to life. Sometimes, the animation projects we work on will be a simple job of making a piece of text move in an eye-catching way and sometimes we have to create a whole library of bespoke animated shorts, exploring the use of a brand logo to showcase key characteristics of the brand’s personality. Pixel’s expert team has the skills and tools required to take on any animation project.
The aims of animation
Good animation serves two primary purposes in a digital signage context, creating motion – which helps draw attention – and producing an emotive response – which makes communication more memorable. Understanding the unique approaches required to achieve both these goals is key to crafting animation that is efficient in impacting viewer behaviours.
One of our favourite animation jobs to date was for Halifax Bank, looking at creating a suite of engaging yet educational cartoons focussing on the Halifax Piggy Bank. These shorts were to be played across ‘kids’ area screens and tablets at the new multi-million-pound flagship branch on London’s Oxford Street. Working alongside the client’s marketing team, our designers storyboarded a series of cartoons, developing both the characters and storylines and animated each. We couldn’t have been happier with how they came out and the client feedback has been brilliant. We even won a number of industry awards for this project, so it must have been good!
